Word of the Day

52-week low

It is the lowest value of a stock in the past 52 weeks (1 year).

A year usually consists of 52 weeks.

Say a stock is currently priced at Rs 100, and on some day in the past 1 year, it touched its lowest value of Rs 40.

Therefore, Rs 40 = its 52-week low value.

You will find this value on many investment platforms.

Similarly, a stock’s highest value in the last 1 year is called its ’52-week high’ value.

Sectoral funds:

They invest in stocks that belong to a certain sector or theme only. Example: logistics sector, pharmaceutical sector, etc.

Focused funds:

These mutual funds invest in a max of 30 stocks at any time. They try to have a less-diversified and more focused approach towards buying stocks.
